Yes — "of" is one of the very first Dolch sight words. Its "f" is pronounced like a "v" sound, which breaks the usual phonics rule and makes it a true sight word from day one.
She took a bite of the apple.
In almost every other English word, the letter "f" makes an "f" sound (as in "fun" or "leaf"). "Of" is a rare exception — it's actually pronounced "uv". Because this exception appears in one of the most frequently used words in the language, children need to recognize it by sight from their very first reading lessons.
Point out that "of" looks like it should rhyme with "if", but it doesn't — naming the surprise out loud helps it stick.
